BASIL Research Initiative Team Profile
Christopher Bockmann
Advisory Board
PRACTICE
Christopher’s practice focuses on enhancing top team effectiveness during strategic shifts and reorganisation. He supports client teams in diagnosing situations, mapping the informal organisation, and managing the resistance that comes with change. Christopher creates spaces for powerful and courageous dialogues to talk about what really matters and what stands in the way of personal, team, or organisational objectives.
In his individual coaching practice, Christopher addresses the various career stages of senior leaders, with a particular interest in succession issues. He also works with his clients to reinforce their leadership culture and capabilities, emphasising leadership “without formal authority” and collaboration across organisational silos.
Christopher has published on many aspects of leadership and is a regular speaker. His recent research focuses on managing polarisation in organisations, particularly in relation to climate change. He has specific experience in law firms, financial services, pharmaceuticals, and the airline industry. He is an executive coach for INSEAD Business School and the Cartier Women’s Initiative, supporting women entrepreneurs.
EXPERIENCE
Christopher has a multicultural background (French-Norwegian bi-national). Both as an executive coach and in his previous career, he has acquired deep experience in complex, global organisations undergoing significant change. He worked for 15 years in global law firms (Clifford Chance, Linklaters) in post-merger integration work. His first career was with the European Commission in the 1990s, working on the EU enlargement process.
He is a Political Science graduate of Cambridge University and holds an Executive Master of Coaching and Consulting for Change from INSEAD Business School.
Based in Barcelona, he works throughout Europe and is fluent in English, French, Spanish, and Norwegian.
